A new trend in living - home office
14. 11. 2020
The current situation calls for a change of lifestyle and even work.
The possibility to work from home partially gives us freedom but we need to meet the demands of a work environment which has to be created in a place where work is not normally allowed across the threshold.Everyone has always wanted to work from home, but it's not as easy as it might seem.We have some useful advice and tips for you on how to manage your home office and how to set up a study in which your work will be effective.
The right place
*
If you have an extra room in your home it’s a big advantage. But the space needs to be set up , which can cost you time and money.
In a flat or a small house it is possible to create a working corner. It isn’t as private as a whole room but it is easier to manage and it is finished in no time. Some people are content with a computer, notepad and a pencil. In both cases though, your comfort should come first.
Where to put the furniture
*
set up your table and chair with your back to the door or facing a wall ( if necessary you can decorate the wall with a painting, photographs or a poster)
sit near a window or in a lighter area of the room, light will give you a good mood and energy.
Don’t try to save money when buying the lamp. Proper and sufficient lighting is the basis of every person's home office. So choose a quality lamp with the right fluorescent light so that your surroundings are pleasant even on darker days.
Put the resting area behind you. Literally. A couch, armchair or bed will always make you think about rest or sleep. Especially on those gray and cold days, you risk losing this battle with laziness or fatigue.
Flipchart, magnetic or normal board, within reach! Even your notes need their place. Keep them close to you, so that you can regularly add or remove papers according to your progress.
Tips for your home office

Change positions - actively change posture when working. Experts recommend sitting for half an hour and standing for half an hour. But of course you have to have the right equipment such as height-adjustable furniture.
Regular movement - prevents muscle weakness, slower thinking, poor blood circulation, heart risks, back pain and also problems with concentration. If you do not have the opportunity to alternate between sitting and standing, walk regularly.
Respect the working hours - just like in the office, it's time for coffee or lunch. Plan a regular break every hour, for you and your eyes. Either set an alarm or install one of the applications on your mobile.
Be careful about food - Be aware that you have less exercise than normal. Your office is at home, the fitness center is closed, so pay more attention to a healthy diet and regular snacks.
Watch out for distractions - television, telephone, children, pets. All of this can distract you from work. Enabling messenger on Facebook or constantly ringing WhatsApp does not add much to your work. We recommend turning off notifications and other alerts, but unfortunately this isn’t possible for children and dogs.
Don't forget your dress code - just like at work even in your home office, you have to look presentable. Therefore, do not be in your pajamas while in a conference call with a supervisor.Groom yourself, use decent make-up and wear nice clothes. You will feel more professional and confident.
